EB Hacks Working from Home
Mar 06, 2020

Hey Guys, it’s Emily here from MiaThrives!

Today I am going to share a bit about my experience working from home. It has been an excellent transition for me and is a great option for anyone living with EB.

You can watch the full video here (or down below).

My Role at MiaThrives

I have been working for MiaThrives for almost one year now as there Creative Director. I also work on social media, and one of my favorite aspects of the job is getting to connect with the community online. One of the biggest perks for me living with EB and working for MiaThrives is having such an understanding Team. Melissa, the founder of MiaThrives, has EB (click here for her story) as well as her daughter Mia. The Managing Director, Jill is also Mia’s nanny, although she doesn’t have EB she knows first hand what day to day life with EB is like. They are incredibly understanding and supportive of the times I need to take time off or working between doctor’s appointments.

Some jobs that allow you to work from home:

  • Owning your own small business
  • Technical Support
  • Working for a travel agency
  • Insurance company
  • Graphic Design
  • Blogger
  • Book Keeping
  • Editor \ Proofreading
  • Translator

How I started my small business!

I started  Greets and Giggles almost six years ago while I was studying design at OCAD University. It is a line of hand made watercolor greeting cards for all occasions. Later I branched out to make a few other products such as jewelry and terrariums. I started approaching stores to carry the cards and quickly had a few locations. I later participated in markets and pop-up shops and one day plan to have an online store.

We would love to hear from you if this is something you’ve tried, and it works for you! Also, feel free to let us know if you have any other EB Hacks!

We used knee pads to protect the skin on my knees. I started wearing them when I was around six months old and learning to crawl, and I continued to wear them growing up in school.
