EB Baby Bath Hacks
Mar 19, 2021

Hey Guys, it’s Emily here from MiaThrives!

I am 30 weeks pregnant and starting to prepare some items for my little one. Since I have DDEB there is a 50% chance the baby will also have EB. The bath items I have picked up are with a butterfly baby in mind. We hope you find some of these hacks helpful!

You can watch the full video here, or down below.

Butterfly Baby Baths

When I was growing up with EB my mother would lay out towels in the bathtub for extra protection. Now there are some soft bath options that are ideal for butterfly babies. Nothing plastic or hard is coming in contact with the baby’s skin. Many of these options can be thrown in the washer & dryer or hung up to dry. I will be using one from skip hop, but there are many other options that can be found elsewhere like amazon.

Butterfly Baby Soaps

There are now many great options for sensitive, natural soaps for babies that are ideal for extra-sensitive skin. Some of these brands include Burts BeesThe Honest CompanyGaia Bab, and the one I am personally trying first Aleva Naturals. Many of these companies make baby soaps formulated specifically for sensitive skin so they have properties that are more soothing than typical soaps. Since I have EB myself I can test out each product on myself before I try it with my baby. If I have even the slightest reaction I won’t risk trying it since the baby’s skin is much more sensitive, to begin with.

Butterfly Baby Hair Brush

The Company Frida refers to itself as a solution-based brand carrying products for pregnancy, postpartum, and babies. The Derma Frida is a hairbrush designed to soothe sensitive skin and help with, dry skin, cradle cap, and eczema. You can use the brush wet or dry and it is 100% antibacterial silicone. I think it is an ideal hairbrush option for an EB Baby!

We would love to hear from you if you tried any of these hacks or have any hacks you would like to share with the EB community!

We used knee pads to protect the skin on my knees. I started wearing them when I was around six months old and learning to crawl, and I continued to wear them growing up in school.
