Emily’s Story | Thriving with EB

Artist at heart

I’ve always loved working with my hands and creating art, and just kind of as long as I can remember, that was just what I did and what I will hopefully always continue to do. I started a small business about four years ago making hand-printed greeting cards for all occasions. I think there’s something special about getting a card that’s handmade. I started also making terrariums and flower arrangements.

A love of travel

As long as I can remember I’ve loved travelling. I got rid of my apartment. I sold all my stuff. That’s kind of when I started travelling full-time. Sometimes doing certain things with EB like travelling can be uncomfortable like dealing with heat and blisters.

Growth through EB

I feel like EB has shaped me into being a problem solver. When you want to do something and there are a few other things in your way, like how am I going to make this work for me and for my skin? That really helped me to be like okay you can do this, it just might be a little bit differently.

Souveniers

I love to collect little rocks and pieces of wood and things from along our travels. Sometimes I will literally mail myself rocks from other places in the world. I just love taking a little bit of the outdoors and bringing it in.

My name is Emily and I’m thriving with EB.

We used knee pads to protect the skin on my knees. I started wearing them when I was around six months old and learning to crawl, and I continued to wear them growing up in school.
