Ed’s Hockey EB Hacks
Oct 17, 2019

Hey, Guys, it’s Emily here from MiaThrives with special guest Ed!

Ed Vandyk is a musician with DDEB and was one of the Kaleidoscope artists. You can click here to watch his story. For highlights from the Kaleidoscope Gala check out the e-book here.

Ed grew up playing ice hockey and from his personal experience falling on ice was less harmful to his skin. When he fell there was less direct impact and more of a slide. Paired with his father hack it helped prevent injury!

You can watch the full video here (or down below).

Sheepskin Padding

Ed’s father would take sheepskin and cut it to size and hot glue it into his sports equipment. From padding to skates this helped prevent friction and injury. You can purchase large pieces from Ikea, click here for the link.

Additional Used for SheepSkin

  • Padding for your seat (Click here for EB Hacks on chair comfort)
  • Padding for crutches or wheelchair
  • Car seat or crib padding
  • Make a cover for a bike seat
  • Shoe insoles

We would love to hear from you if this is something you’ve tried and it works for you! Also, feel free to let us know if you have any other EB Hacks!

We used knee pads to protect the skin on my knees. I started wearing them when I was around six months old and learning to crawl, and I continued to wear them growing up in school.
