EB Hacks- Extra Padding
Mar 05, 2021

Hey Guys, it’s Emily here from MiaThrives!

I am 28 weeks pregnant and starting to prepare some EB Hacks for the baby if they have EB. With DDEB the child has a 50% chance of being born with EB. Today I go over a hack that can be used for car seats, straps, or any bags! This doesn’t necessarily need to be a baby hack but can be used for anyone with EB!

You can watch the full video here, or down below.

Car Seat Padding

To my surprise, when my car seat arrived it came with additional padding on the straps! They can even be removed and I plan on re-using them when we change to a larger car seat in the future. However, if your car seat doesn’t come with them, not to worry you can purchase them separately. My favorite ones are by a company called Little Unicorn that makes incredibly soft products in ideal materials for Butterfly Children. Click here to check out the muslin cotton strap covers.

Bag Padding

This strap padding also is multi-functional and can be used on a purse, bag, or seat belt. I used one of the pads and placed both purse straps inside. It gives great extra padding from friction to help prevent blistering. Each pack comes with two strap covers so would also be ideal to use for a backpack.

To minimize weight I opted out of a large diaper bag and got a travel change pad, click here to check out a similar model. Packing light on the go helps save my shoulders and back from blistering. I hope this hack can be useful for other EB parents!

We would love to hear from you if you tried any of these hacks or have any hacks you would like to share with the EB community!

We used knee pads to protect the skin on my knees. I started wearing them when I was around six months old and learning to crawl, and I continued to wear them growing up in school.
