I’ve always loved arts and crafts. Especially growing up with EB, I couldn’t always participate in sports or recess but something I could always do was arts and crafts. MiaThrives has been really trying to celebrate how creative the EB community is. And they just had a gala celebrating 10 artists with EB. Now, Kaleidoscope Kids is going to try to encourage children with EB to get creative with a Do It Yourself Gnome Craft.
So the first project we’re going to do is a Do It Yourself Gnome.
I’m going to use a few products that are all from the dollar store but you can also look around your house and use things that you have. For example, I found little butterfly wings and decided to make a butterfly gnome. As many of you know, children with EB are called butterfly children because their skin is as fragile as a butterfly’s wings.
You can watch the full tutorial video with instructions here (or down below).
What you will need:
- 3 Socks – 1 white sock for the base, 1 colour of your choice for the body and another 1 for the hat

- Rubber bands
- Scissors
- Ribbon
- Mop
- Glue gun
- Blush
- Decorations of your choice for gnome and hat (I used ribbon, bells, and wooden butterflies)
